Yeemik's Worst Nightmare & Arrival in Phandalin

Brief DM Summary: After a short rest, Arianwen sent Pili Pala to collect Ashildr & ask her to move the ox cart as close as possible so that the stolen Lionshield Coster supplies could be loaded on board. While the druid kept herself busy loading the cart, everyone else explored the last bit of Cragmaw Hideout. They soon discovered the goblin's kitchen (if it could be called that). While they didn't manage to surprise the goblins inside, Sherick's blinding radiance took all but one out in one brilliant glow.

Yeemik, the last remaining goblin, attempted to bargain with Sildar's life, for the Lords Alliance member was there and just barely clinging to consciousness. Cowed by both the light and Triactis, as well as the dragonborn looming over him, he spills everything he knows and even translates the note that Jig had found:

  • King Grol, the goblin king, had sent instructions to Klarg for the clan to be on the lookout for Gundren Rockseeker the dwarf. Once found, they were to secure any maps in his possession and send everything on to Cragmaw Castle. King Grol was under orders from someone or something named the Black Spider. They had kept Sildar as they had plans to eat him.

Sildar confirms the goblin's story, and after some healing from Ashildr, suggests the group go on to Phandalin to see if they can find out anything from Gundren's brothers: Nundro and Tharden. He also says he will pay 50 gold for the escort there, as he's in a very bad way. He also informs the group that he has another ulterior motive for going to Phandalin:

  • He's searching for a missing wizard named Iarno Albreck, another Lord's Alliance member who had gone to Phandalin a couple of months back to sort out the problems there.
  • Lastly, he suspects he knows the reason that the goblins took Gundren: the brothers had discovered an entrance to the long-lost Wave Echo Cave.

After loading up the wagon, they go on to Phandalin, encountering no further issues along the way. One there, they go to Stonehill Inn and take rooms from Toblen Stonehill, who gives them a deal (21 silvers a week for the rooms, so long as Triactis does some performances). True to his word, Sildar arranges 50gp for the escort and takes a room himself. The group relax and eat, meeting a few of the local townsfolk, though they don't speak to everyone. The following rumours are learned:

  • Narth to Ossian: "Reidoth the druid! Why that old git! I heard he's up at Thundertree!" He suggests that Qelline Alderleaf, a local farmer, might know more about Reidoth. "She's a busy body. She knows everyone."
  • Elsa to Ossian & Ashildr: "Or Daran Eldermath might know!" nods "He's an elf you know. Keeps the Orchard now, but he was an adventurer back in the day."
  • Freda to Jig: "You'd best watch yourself, lass, especially a wee thing like you. The Redbrands hassle all the buisiness in town, except for the Miner's Exchange. And that's only because they don't want to get on the wrong side of Halia. Halia Thornton runs the Phandalin Miner's Exchange. She's a tough one, she is."
  • Narth to Ashildr: "Oh, no, was just going to tell you that you ought to pay a little visit to Sister Garaele. She oversees the Shrine of Luck here in town. Not that we've got much of that right now. But she does have healing potions and whatnot. Though it's strange -- she recently left town for a few days and came back lookin' much the worse for wear."
Everyone heads off for a much deserved rest, but Ashildr, too wound up to sleep (especially after the nap and dream she'd had), makes her way through the ever darkening town until she finds herself on the road outside a very abandoned old manor house in ruins: Tresendar Manor.

It's on a hill amid woods and thickets. She spends some time praying to Luthic and pondering her pouch. It still won't open, but as she prays, something inside it glows. Through the dim light cast by the pouch, she sees quite a few footprints, which all lead to a ruined kitchen and some stone steps that descend into what was likely the cellar of the formerly grand manor house. Leery about tackling whatever lurks below on her own, she returns to the Inn and goes to bed.

+275 xp to everyone for clearing Cragmaw Hideout and making it to Phandalin.
