Ashildr's Pouch

Image
That night, after clearing out the Redbrand Hideout, Ashildr fell into a deep sleep. She awoke at some point, sure that she'd heard her mother's voice calling to her. It wasn't until she rolled over, trying to find a more comfortable spot on the bed, that she noticed that the pouch she had carried all these years had come open -- and a soft, comforting light was leaking from the inside. With shaking hands, she opened it and found... A necklace of prayer beads. They were both delicate and strong, making a slight tink, tink noise as they clinked together. And touching them gave her a feeling of home that she hadn't felt since she had left.  --- The 6 beads on the necklace include 2 Blessing, 2 Curing, 1 Wind Walking, 1 Smiting. Requires Attunement by a Cleric, Druid, or Paladin This necklace has 6 magic beads made from aquamarine, black pearl, or topaz. It also has many nonmagical beads made from stones such as amber, bloodstone, citrine, coral, jade, pearl, or quartz. I

The following are the current jobs and quests and locations the players have knowledge of: Shrine of Luck Quest from Sister Garaele -- find out the location of Bowgentle's spellbook from Agatha, a banshee (Agatha's Lair, Near Conybery) The Ruins of Thundertree, known to have been once overrun with undead. You know from Qelline that this is where Reidoth the Druid lives (who is reputed to know the location of Ossian's Family Sword) and, from the woman you saved from the Redbrand Hideout, you know there is a valuable emerald necklace there. Orcs at Wyvern Tor, Harbin Wester the Townmaster offers 100 gold to the group that takes care of this problem Cragmaw Castle -- you know this is where Gundren Rockseeker was taken as well as his map to the location of Wave Echo Cave [ ahem YOU MIGHT WANT TO TALK TO SILDAR ABOUT THIS] Halia Thornton, who soon learns of your victory over the Redbrands as all of Phandalin is celebrating, sends a note that she'd like Jig to come pick up

No More Hideaway...

[DM Summary] With Droop's help, the players free the captives (The Woodcutter's Family), Kill Glasstaff & discover his true identity (Iarno Albreck, the missing wizard Sildar was looking for), and kill all of the remaining Redbrand Ruffians. Arianwen and Pili Pala take the prisoners back right away, which cheers everyone in the village. Following behind soon after, Ashildr, Ossian, Triactis, Jig, and Sherick even take a pile of the red cloaks back with them and start a bonfire outside the Stonehill Inn, where all the villagers celebrate. Sildar is upset at Iarno's treachery, but rewards the players for their part in bringing him to justice. He plans on staying on and taking Iarno's place -- that is, the job that Iarno was supposed to have done -- helping Phandalin become a safe place to live again. Afterwards, they visit The Shrine of Luck and meet Sister Garaele of the hard to pronounce name. She asks if they'd be able to convince a banshee named Agatha to tel

The Redbrand Hideout -- Mission: Infiltration!

Image
DM Summary : After some discussion the next morning (after a well-rested Triactis, Ashildr, and Ossian come down) and a hearty breakfast, the group decides to take the tunnel entrance that Carp Alderleaf showed them into the Redbrand hideout. Before they leave, Sildar tells them about Iarno Albreck having been seen near there right before he disappeared 2 months before. He asks them to keep an eye out for information on the wizard.  They set off and don their red capes (Jig having fished one more out of the bin outside Stonehill Inn -- it was torn and smelled awful, but it was a red cape) before going in. They find themselves in a cavern.  A crevasse divides it and is flanked by two rough stone columns that support the twenty-foot-high ceiling. Two arched wooden bridges span the chasm. It doesn't take long for them to realise that the "big eye monster" is a telepathic nothic. However, they are able to distract him with leftover bits of breakfast.  They explore down a ha

The Sleeping Giant

DM Summary :  It’s mid-morning and the sun is shining brightly. The haze of the previous day has been burned off. After having spent the previous night in a raucous singing (and drinking) competition, Ossian, Ashildr, and Triactis are sleeping in. Jig (and Pili Pala’s sprite friend Billykin Boomwacket) had already gone off to take the ox cart and supplies around to both Lionshield Coster and Barthen’s Provisions and were back having a late breakfast. They are joined by Sherick, Sildar (who looks much better now), and Arianwen.  Jig tells the others about how she had to take care of a Redbrand Ruffian while collecting the pay from Elmar Barthen at Barthen's Provisions. As they are eating and chatting, a crying Pip Stonehill (the innkeeper's son) and they soon learn that he's distraught because one of his friends had been taken by the Redbrands (along with his mother and sister, on top of his father being presumed dead).  Jig, Arianwen, and Sherick travel around Phandalin and

The Invisible Sprite Spy

After not learning as much from Harbin Wester, the Townmaster, as they wanted, Jig asked Billykin to stay invisible and hang around the Townmaster's Hall for a while to see what he could find out. So far, he has discovered: Sildar had interviewed some townspeople and discovered that the wizard he is seeking, Iarno Albreck, was last seen about two months ago near Tresendar Manor. Billykin : That Sildar looked awfully concerned about that! Ya might want to ask him about it! Bob the Villager came by to talk to Harbin Wester in his office and told him that something had happened at the Sleeping Giant. Billykin : Ya shoulda seen the fat fool! He nearly spit all over himself and started in moanin' about how he just wants things quiet! A couple of prospectors came in to complain to Harbin Wester about the orcs at Wyvern Tor.  Billykin : They was steamed! They lit into ol' Harbin and gave him what for! It was all I could do to not laugh!

Billykins regales Pili Pala with a tale, over breakfast

As recounted to Pili Pala, by her old friend Billykins Boomwacket, while he slurps soup at the tavern, and she struggles to get a word in edgeways: Ah Pili Pala, that Jig thinks she’s the stealthy sort, but still managed to scare the brasspockets out of her when I snuck up behind her at Lionshield Coster. Yes, indeed, was on my way to find you once I’d heard there was a corgi-riding sprite just arrived in town with a crowd of adventurers,  who else could it be? And then I see my good friend Jig, so I put two and two together...Ah it’s good to see you! So, Jig was done with Linene at Lionshield Coster in jig time (geddit?) and sounded like there was some craic to be had at Barthen’s so I followed along, but thought I may as well stay out of sight after hearing about those Redbrands, and wasn’t I right?  I’ll tell ya, soon as that Elmar fellow fetched the purse for Jig, a coarse-looking lad name of Redbrand Ruffian turned up, and fancied he was going to have the gold off Elmar.
